photo {clip} frame...

I recently showed you a washi tape covered M that I made for my craft room.  It has been so much fun decorating and organizing my new space.  So today I thought I'd show you another project that I created.  It is a photo clip frame!

This was my inspiration...
I saw this clip wall frame at Pier1 and knew I wanted it for my new craft room.  Well, when I was getting ready to actually go buy it, I decided that $28 was a little much to spend on just a fun element for my space.  So I decided to use this as inspiration and see what I could make.

So....off to Goodwill I went in search of a frame.  I was thinking I would just find a neat frame and then have to paint it the color I wanted.  Little did I expect to find a frame that was the perfect color to match my room!!!

Yeah!...I love how it turned out.  I still can't believe that I found the perfect colored frame.  All I did was take out the picture and the glass.  Then I used some hemp twine and weaved a zig zag pattern through the metal staples on the back of the frame {you know the ones that usually hold the picture in}.  ;)

I used mini clothespins to add a few photos and some owl tidbits and it was good to go!

It hangs right over my craft island.  {I love having a place where I can stand up and craft!}

....Slowly but surely I'm showing you my new craft space...stay tuned into the blog for more pics!

Kid's Brita Bottle Review and GIVEAWAY....

I was recently contacted by Meijer to see if I would be interested in trying out the new Brita bottle for kid's with water filtration system.  I was super excited to get this for Little Bit to try out.  She is hard on her water bottles, and with the filter I thought it would be great to try.

Little Bit really liked  the design on the bottle...as soon as she saw it she said "Oh, is this for me?"  Hehe!  It does come in 2 other designs besides this one.  It is a 13 oz squeezable bottle that is BPA free.  The filter should be replaced every two months or 40 gallons of water and the bottle is top rack dishwasher safe.

So after getting it all washed up and running water through the filter like it instructed she was ready to try it out.  The bottle worked great.  She didn't have any trouble drinking out of it.  The only problem we had was the pop top was a little hard for her to pull out by herself.  So I pretty much had to open it every time she needed a drink.  Hopefully it will loosen up over time.

Since it is back to school time...wouldn't this be a great way to send water to school with your kids!  If you think you might want to try purchase one of these, check them out at Meijer today!  If you purchase a Brita bottle for kids by 10/31/12 you could receive a free book from Scholastic by following the guidelines stated here.

Or better yet...you could try and win one!  Meijer graciously provided me with 2 bottles...one for me and one to giveaway to one lucky blog reader!  If you would like a chance to WIN...just leave a comment on this post!  I will draw a winner next Sunday evening.

Thanks again to Meijer for the wonderful opportunities to try out new products!

washi tape letter...

I have been pinning ideas for my new craft room for a while and one thing I knew I wanted to make was a washi tape covered letter for my wall similar to this one.   Here is what I ended up with and I love it!

I found a kraft colored letter at Joanns, for about $2 I think.  I liked the color because it was a close match to my wall color so I wouldn't have to paint the sides.  I also liked the fact that it was super light so I could adhere it to the wall with Fun-Tak mounting putty...super easy!

I started off by going through my washi tape and finding colors/patterns that I thought would coordinate with the room.  Then I started applying it in vertical rows to the letter.

 I just let the tape hang over the edge of the M until I was finished covering it.

Then I turned the letter over on my cutting mat and used an X-acto knife to trim the excess tape off for a clean edge all the way around.

So easy and so cute!  I just love it!

new house!

Well, don't know about you but it felt to me like I had deserted this blog!  Moving sure takes a toll on you!  I am still trying to catch up on sleep loss from staying up way too late from before and after the move.  But we are finally in our new house and starting to feel settled.  So I thought it was about time I checked back in and showed you a few pics...

We went with a craftsman style for the house.  I just love how the stone and siding turned out!  And I love our front door!  Loving the color we ended up going with too...{concert hall, Allen & Roth from Lowes}

Here is Little Bit's room...she wanted purple walls.  So I picked out a color that coordinated with the bedding she already had.  It is Mood Violet by Pratt & Lambert {although we had it color matched and used Benjamin Moore paint}.  We just picked up the print above her bed yesterday at Hobby Lobby....it matches great!  We also have a big vinyl tree decal ordered that we are going to put on the left of her bed...she is super excited to get it decorated!  {She is definitely her mamas girl! ;)}

Our living room is great....It is one of the first rooms we put together.  Nice to have a place to just sit (haha) and relax during all the unpacking.  Plus it was nice to have the tv set up for Little Bit to have some entertainment, listen to music and/or watch the Olympics!  The color on the walls is Almond Toast by P&L{also a color match to use BM paint}.

Here is our bedroom.  I am liking the more muted color pallete in here.  Before we had orange as an accent color.  While I did like it, I was tired of it after 5 years.  So we decided to go with a nice blue for the walls and then more neutral bedding.  I found this great khaki quilt at TJ Maxx for half of what I was going to pay at Target, so glad I shopped around!  I picked up the accent pillows at Big Lots and Meijer.  The wall color is Bracken Architrave Blue {Williamsburg by P&L, colored matched to BM paint}.

Mudroom!....I am loving this entrance off the garage.  We got this bench from Wayfair and it has been a great catch all.  We keep our keys and backpacks on the hooks and the bench is a great place to sit to put on shoes before heading out the door...or catch all the library books and reusable bags!  ;)  I'm waiting to put down my runner until all the workers are done coming and going.  There are still a few odds and ends that need to be finished up.  But overall we are loving the new house and having a great time making it our home!
