Deals of the Day...Walgreens

If you plan on getting into Walgreens today or tomorrow you might want to print out this $10/$40 coupon good Fri. and Sat. only. I went today with high hopes, since this is an overlap day with the Aug. & Sept. Easy Saver catalogs...but several things didn't pan out they way I'd hoped. So I didn't use the coupon but still made out pretty good. I spent $18.26 but will get back $17.78 after rebates and register rewards...so really only paid .48 cents!!! The John Freida was really a great deal...It was on sale B1G1 50% OFF plus register rewards. The 2 products ring up as bought items, then the 50% off rings up on a separate line so the computer thinks you bought 3 things...producing $9 RR instead of $5!

Go here for the September Free After Rebate deals.

Aveeno tote bag

I love Aveeno products...especially the baby line! "Little bit" has sensitive skin so I use the Aveeno wash and lotion on her. Also, the sunscreen is great! If you have purchased any Aveeno products lately go here to get a free tote bag from Aveeno. All you need to do is fill in your information and enter two UPC codes from Aveeno products. It does say...while supplies last...so you better act fast.

Cosmo also has a promotion for an Aveeno tote. You must purchase any 2 Aveeno products and send in your original receipt by September 30, 2008. Find more details here.

Also, if you love Aveeno like I do...sign up here to get coupons. You can print one as soon as you sign up and then they send you more periodically. I just got one today for $2.00 off any Aveeno product!

Creative Corner...more taggies & a card too!

I was craftin' up a storm last night! I made 3 more taggie blankets. One was a special order from a friend, another is a birthday gift for "little bits" cousin. They were born on the same day...how cool is that!
I also made a card. I have been inspired by the new Stampin' Up catalog and all the goodies in it. I don't have any of them yet so I am working with what I've got for now. I haven't made cards in awhile so it was nice to get those creative juices flowing again. I am slowly but surely restocking my stash!

Deals of the Day...Meijer

Didn't see any great sales in the Meijer ad this week but I needed a few things so I grabbed my coupons and off I went. Old El Paso products were on sale 20% off plus I had a $1 off 2 coupon making my beans and seasoning .28 cents. Blueberry Frosted Mini Wheats cereal was on sale 3/$7, I had a $1 off coupon, plus I found a box that had a "Try Free" tag on it! So something I didn't even plan on buying turned out to be a small moneymaker! Cheerios ended up being .67 cents after coup. I also got a package of wipes for .64 cents! Sometimes it "pays" to just browse with your coupons!

Creative Corner...craft area

Here are a few pics of my craft area. I always enjoy checking out how other crafters have their spaces set up, so maybe you do too! I'm trying to work on my list of crafty projects this weekend. Tonight I made a birthday banner for "little bits" upcoming 1st birthday. I also need to work on scrapbooking, some taggie blankets, and other birthday decorations. What has your creative mind been up to lately?

Orange-Ginger Tilapia

With the recent tilapia deals at Meijer lately I have stocked up. So I am trying to fix fish once a week or so. I found a new recipe and tried it tonight. It was pretty good...alot lighter than the Almond-Coconut recipe. Will definitely make again.

6 (6-ounce) tilapia fillets
6 Tbsps olive oil
1 Tbsp grated orange zest
6 Tbsps orange juice, plus extra
1 Tbsp grated fresh ginger or 3/4 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp salt
freshly ground pepper

Place the olive oil, orange zest, juice, ginger, salt and pepper in plastic bag and mix together. Add fish to the bag and let marinate in the refrigerator for 30 to 60 minutes. After the fish has marinated for desired amount of time, place in a baking dish and drizzle with extra orange juice. Bake in 425 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.

Menu Plan Monday

We had another great little break but I am back in the swing of things this week. I think this is the first full menu I have prepared in a while! With all the Tilapia I have in the freezer I am on a mission to find some more recipes...got a new one to try this week.

Monday ~ pot roast, mashed potatoes, corn, bread

Tuesday ~ orange-ginger tilapia, sauteed zucchini, ramen noodles

Wednesday ~ taquitos, rice, chips & salsa

Thursday ~ french toast, scrambled eggs, fruit

Friday ~ slow cooker chicken & dumplings, green beans, bread

Visit Org Junkie for more recipes!

Menu Plan Monday

No menu again this week due to the fact that we are going out to dinner tomorrow night, I will be out of town a couple nights, and then we have company coming in. Hope you all have a great week!

Creative Corner...taggies

If you have small children, I am sure you have heard of Taggies. They are books, toys, bedding, clothing, etc. that have soft satin tags on the edges. Little Bit has several of the books and loves them. I am always up for a new craft challenge so I decided to try my hand at my own version of a tag blanket. I used a solid fleece on one side and a print flannel on the other, with various ribbon for the tags. I think it turned out pretty nifty and Little Bit just loves it! Here is what it looks like...
I also made one for my friend Jamie's little boy with Thomas the Train fleece! I am anxious to get craftin' on some more!!!
