{check} this out...

The last few weeks we have been talking about fruits and vegetables...
Little Pea by Amy Krouse Rosenthal

Eating the Alphabet: Fruits & Vegetables from A to Z by Lois Ehlert

I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato by Lauren Child

Night of the Veggie Monster by George McClements

Baby Food by Saxton Freymann

{don't forget...utilize your local library for reading and AV material!}

Here are some of the activities we did...

sorting fruit & veggies...2 baskets filled with plastic fruits and vegetables, that we dump out and sort.

grapes coloring sheet...I found this coloring sheet that Little Bit could color and then glue red & green pom poms on to resemble the grapes.

letter f and v activity sheets...colored the sheets and then cut out the elements to sort by what starts with f and v.

felt pizza...made pizzas and talked about the different veggies {or fruits, daddy loves pineapple!} we could use as toppings.

lunch in a strawberry tray...I was inspired by Muffin Tin Mom to try lunch in a "muffin tin" {actually an ice cube tray}. I found this strawberry ice cube tray at Michaels for just $1.00! The compartments are just the right size for bite sized pieces for Little Bit. She thought it was great!

{supergirl} cape...

Little Bit has been going around jumping off the couch, acting like and saying she is "superman", so I thought she might like a cape to wear. I had looked at several tutorials but wanted something cheap and simple! So on one of my Dollar Store runs, I browsed the kitchen towels and found this mostly white one with a few colorful stripes at the bottom. I thought it would work perfectly!

I took the plain white end and gathered it to create the collar. Then I added some red satin ribbon that I had on hand {to bring in some more color and to have something to attach the Velcro to}. You could be done now, but I wanted to personalize it a bit more. Sooooooo, I took some more of the satin ribbon and laid it out to make a G {first letter of Little Bit's name!} in the middle of the cape. Once sewed in place, I let Little Bit try it on and HAVE FUN!!!

SHOES!

Just a quick little fun post today....{not that they all aren't fun, hehe!}.

First off, I want to remind my blog readers about the giveaway that ends tomorrow evening. Make sure you enter for a chance to win some goodies!

Second, I thought I'd share a quick pic...
Little Bit is all into my shoes these days! She loves getting in my closet and trying on my shoes. Usually she just gets out the brown sandals in the picture and walks around pushing her shopping cart {3 babies in the seat!} saying she has to go to the market. This morning she decided she needed MORE shoes out....so here she is modeling for me before she is off to "shop"!

{big} girl bed...

Sunday night I was trying to put Little Bit to bed and she was fighting me pretty good. She kept asking to lay down with me in my bed, which she doesn't ever do. Then she said she didn't want to be "trapped" in her bed. This is the first time she has ever complained about being in her crib. {We are surprised we've been able to keep her in their as long we have!} We have a convertible crib, so the DH took off the front rail and made it into her big girl bed. Little Bit was so excited to be able to get in and out all by herself. The first 2 nights were a little rough, getting her to stay in bed to go to sleep and then getting her to stay in bed while sleeping {she fell out 2 nights but just kept on sleeping!}. But she seems to be doing well with it. My little girl is growing up way to fast!!!

Honey Teriyaki Salmon

We try to have fish at least once a week, so I am always on the lookout for new recipes. We had this last week and it was just yummo!

Ingredients:
1/4 cup lite soy sauce
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 garlic glove, crushed
4 (1/4 lb) skinless salmon fillets

Directions:
Combine all ingredients except salmon in a resealable plastic bag, close and mix together. Add the salmon, squeeze out all the air, and seal the bag. Turn to coat salmon, refrigerate 6 to 24 hours.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Remove salmon from marinade and place in a greased baking dish. Bake for 12 -15 minutes...enjoy!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom...

Little Bit just loves this book. She goes around just randomly saying..."Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, will there be enough room?...next comes H up the coconut tree!"...too cute! I have seen several ideas lately where people made a coconut tree with letters. I thought, how fun...I should make something for Little Bit. I knew I wanted something small, that Little Bit could sit and have on her lap to play with. I also thought magnetic stuff would be good but didn't want to spend alot...so my wheels began to turn. I have had this baking sheet{$1.00} for a couple months thinking it would come in handy as a tray for some project. I found it at the Dollar Tree and it is magnetic {when buying a baking sheet for a magnetic project, make sure you test it because they are not all magnetic}. My next mission were magnetic letters...found those{$1.00} at Dollar General in the kitchen section. Now I just had to make the tree. Using construction paper, I freehand cut out a tree trunk. leaves and coconuts. Then I ran them through my Xyron machine using the laminate/magnet cartridge, cut out and assembled it all on the tray.
When it was all done, I showed it to Little Bit and she got excited! Here she is playing with it, saying over and over "here comes H up the coconut tree"....I think it's a hit!

shirt refashion...

I have been wanting to alter a shirt for me but was kind of scared to take the plunge. Jess over at craftiness is not optional had done this post on "sprucing" some shirts. I thought the reverse appliqué idea was neat and super cute....so I decided to take a shirt I had in the garage sale pile to try it out on. It was a little short and stretched out. {So I figured if I messed it up, no biggie!}
I used some fabric from a Verna charm pack. I used my Creative Memories circle cutters to make patterns. I pinned the paper patterns to the fabric and used pinking shears to cut out the circles. Once I had the circles complete on the shirt, I added some buttons for an extra touch!
